I have spent the last two years learning how to build websites, and this site is where I share what that process actually looks like. I run two websites; roamreverie.com and affiliatemarketingmac.com, and I am now working through the next stage of that process, which is learning how to optimize sites so Google and Bing actually find and rank them. This website is the record of that second stage, written for anyone else who is building a business website and wants to learn alongside me.
Why I started
I started my first travel blog to tell the stories of my own travel experiences. That site grew into a travel guide website, and building it taught me most of what I know about putting a website together from nothing. Somewhere in that process I realised the skills I had picked up were worth teaching, so I built this site to pass on what I learned from creating my travel blog.
First you build the website. Then you optimize it so it can be found. That is the order I followed, and it is the order this site is organised around.
Who this is for
This site is for anyone, anywhere in the world, who is learning to build a business website. Some of you will be starting from nothing, the way I did with my first travel blog. Some of you will already have a site built and be stuck on the same question I am working through now, which is how to get that site indexed and ranked properly. Either stage is covered here.
Why you can trust what I write
I am not writing as an expert who has finished learning. I am writing as someone with close to two years of hands on experience building and optimizing websites, working the whole time with one of the best website hosting platforms available. Everything on this site comes from that experience, not from theory I have read somewhere and repeated.
That means when I write about a tool, a plugin, or a method, it is because I have used it on my own sites first. If a post describes a step for building or optimizing a website, it is a step I have taken myself on roamreverie.com and affiliatemarketingmac.com (this site).

Whichever stage you are at, you are welcome here. This site will keep growing as I keep learning, and I would rather share what works and what does not as I go than wait until I have it all figured out. Read through the posts, try what applies to your own site, and come back as new ones go up.
